Lace Me In

sex sells, so I put on a little lace. Really I just like how fancypants it feels to wear something with a great texture. oh goody gumdrops I just had a MOMENT - one where I realized how important TEXTURE is to style (also how writing in ALL CAPS is offensive and much like shouting) (case and point).

While shouting does have its merits, its all about the visual.

Style is one part color, one part pattern, and one part texture. That's how we all should get dressed everyday and we'd have a lot more fun. We also might have a better chance of getting noticed by The Satorialist. sigh. Please come to the midwest. By the way...is the bolding effective or should I go back to ALL CAPS or should I do BOTH?

OK BACK TO LACE

Amongst my email inbox of fashion blast goodies Refinery 29 has steadily become one of my new favorites. I got a little too giddy when I saw lace blouses on their list of 10 Fall 2010 trends from Paris, London, and Milan. You mean I can be simultaneously daring AND demure? SOLD.
The pointelle top is like giant lace scallops hanging from your shoulders. Très sexy.

The WWW Spring Essentials list most definitely caught my eye for two reasons: No. 5 Opening Ceremony Sunburst Lace-Up Wedge in Leopard (I loves leopard) and No. 6 Mulberry Structured Satchel, The Alexa Bag in Oak Buffalo Leather (retailing for $1150!)

I suggest for the amount of money you would pay for the real satchel, you could either fly to thailand or buy a small monkey. Yes, these are your options...However, one can only wonder how delightfully soft it feels to touch Buffalo leather. Maybe you aren't so unreasonable after all Mulberry!?

Fresh Clear Style

Completely Style.inspired by Eddie Borgo's to die for ready-to-wear Spring 2010 pieces (at a price tag not thrift friendly), I was estatic when I Spot.ted this "Pink Floyd-esque" prism necklace. The geometric shape plays well to Borgo's edgy cuts and its delicate silver chain is both feminine and playful.

While this couldn't replace my affection for his Quartz Two Finger ring - it's cutting it darn close!



This clear glass vintage bubble necklace (pictured bottom right) is a dead-ringer for the look and feel of the infamous Alexis Bittar for Michael Kors lucite bubble necklace! The only thing it's lacking is size... (funny - I think I've said that before:-))


A lucite bangle can easily transition from day to night. I loved the Style. of these Alexis Bittar lucite organic tapered hand-painted bangle bracelet (top right). Mr. Bittar sure seems to be getting a lot of press this season! Well deserved, Mr. Bittar, well deserved.
